Top climate scientist will lecture at OSU May 1

Dr. James Hansen, one of the world's top climate scientists, will be giving two presentations at the Ohio State University on May 1 --- a technical lecture at 4 p.m. and a general lecture at 7 p.m. [new time]. These lectures are free and open to the public. Click here to download a PDF with details.

"If humanity wishes to preserve a planet similar to that on which civilization developed and to which life on Earth is adapted, paleoclimate evidence and ongoing climate change suggest that CO2 will need to be reduced from its current 385 ppm to at most 350 ppm." The entire report, "Target atmospheric CO2: Where should humanity aim?," and its supporting material by Hansen et al. were posted to arxiv.org on April 7, 2008.

The second Hansen talk on Thursday has been changed to 7pm to allow for a larger audience -- the pdf flyer has been updated with the correct time and location information.
